I'm in my mid 40s and need a really good eye cream - something that keeps the under eye smooth (i.e. hold down the wrinkles) and also something for firming the upper eyelid that now sags. I can't afford a product that is $50 a month - must be reasonably priced ($25 or so for a month's supply). I currently use Avon dual therapy which works pretty well but wanted other suggestions. I haven't found one that I like better than Avon but would like something better.

Maybe try doing a search for eye creams, marygirl, as threads on eye creams are abundant on EDS. Here are a few to get you started:

Adding a retinol product will also help long-term, for example:

There are also do-it-yourself creams shared by some of our EDS members that you could try at a lesser cost, for example:

Dr. Kassy's face firming and eye cream
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=30621&highlight=lift+eye

Another option is to consider incorporating some facial exercises that target the eye area and/or facial massage such as are offered in these very reasonably priced programs:

Ageless If You Dare by LouLou
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=31539

Tanaka Facial Massage
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=36457

Links to other popular facial exercise and massage threads can be found here: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?p=474344#474344

I'm sure others will have more suggestions. Smile

Hi, Mary. If you want to combat signs of aging around your eyes, I think your best bet is to use proven anti-aging products like vitamin C serum and tretinoin or retinol creams (vitamin A) and perhaps Remergent DNA Repair.

What works on your face, will also work in your eye area. The only thing to keep in mind, is to avoid heavy creams and oils that will weigh down the delicate skin around your eyes. Unless the skin around your eyes is extremely dry, I would avoid traditional moisturizers and go for light serums containing effective anti-aging actives: Retinoids are proven to boost collagen production, hence erase fine lines, whereas vitamin C serum is the best topical antioxidant available to prevent further signs of aging and to some extent promote collagen synthesis.

You may also want to look into Relastin Eye Silk, which is recommended by a number of top dermatologists because it might be able to boost elastin production.

I have noticed some improvement in my under eye lines by using a combination of SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic and Relastin Eye Silk (AM) and Remergent DNA Repair (PM) for the last three months. You only need a tiny amount around your eyes, so these bottles will last you a looong time.

Good luck with your choice!

Smile

I agree with simran--thanks for taking the time to put together some of the recent threads on eyecreams. And it would be great to have a couple of stickies with links to threads that come up over and over again: sunscreen, retinoids, eye creams, Vitamin C, and so forth. I know, a lot of work to put it together, but it would help newer forumites in particular.

Of course, now that the search function has been improved, maybe that is all we need...

I have heard a lot of members recommend Cellcosmet's eye cream. I have not used it myself, but do plan to. It is pricey, but one member said it lasts a long time.

Well Havana lots of choices here! There is nothing that will lift, firm or tighten the eye area but I have discovered if I use some thing for the skin around the eye it has to leave the skin moist, dewy and hydrated. I found that in Elizabeth Grants eye serum and any of her eye creams. Oh! Such a delight to use let me tell you! She also has a product called eyelid restore which whips the crepiness so that you can wear those beautiful patina or pearly eyeshadows again without looking DRY looking. This is what I like my skin care to do.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do! Very Happy

$25 for just one month? I think a piece of eye cream with 15ml could be used for half a year...that means, 2.5ml per month.
Therefore, you can buy nearly any eye cream with the price of less than $150. You do have a lot of choice, right?

If you seriously want a good eye cream then in my opinion use products from organic cosmetics.
I am suggesting a link where you find some natural skin care products at green-mandarine(dot)com(dot)au

I am also suggesting some good eye products:

1)EYE CREME- Akin Ginkgo&Chamomile Revitalising Eye Night Crème -moisturizer
Priced: $39.91
About Product: All skin types, including the very sensitive.
Helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by firming the fragile eye area. Light, yet rich formula helps revitalise the tissue and improve microcirculation. Nourishing, rapidly absorbed, unscented eye night creme in a time-release system.

2)Eye contour replenishment - Bee natural
Price: $14.00
About Product: This fine and pure formulation contains Beeswax and the Oils of Macadamia, Avocado, Wheatgerm and Evening Primrose. It cares for the delicate area around the eye, providing a nourishing treatment that is 100% natural.

Maybe you should try ROC, I know it is a very high price-performance eye cream at reduced signs of aging.

The best eye cream I have used, is not an eye cream! It is the Chrysalyx by NaturDerm, I do not work for them, but I love their products. I only say that because I guess if you really love a product line, and give your experiences there are people who think you do, and then you follow rules and describe what you like and the post is pulled. I love that I don't have to use several products to get great results. I love the smell and I love that my eyes aren't puffy anymore.
