Hi, does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep that great smokey look of putting black eyeliner on the inner lids of your eye. I have used numerous eyeliners and they all end up under my eye, making be look like I have a black eye, not very appealing. Help would be appreciated. Confused

Hi CookieD

Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it.

Wow so much information in the links you sent, I can see my near future, mirror in hand and lots of trial and error.

It would be so nice to have a makeup artist come and do your makeup for you, not everyday, don't want to be greedy, but just for special occasions, when you just want to look great with eye popping smokey eyes, instead of looking like a prize fighter, the one that didn't win.

Physicians formula eye booster is safe for me.
Normally I would avoid all kinds of pencil eye liner and gel ones, most of them would end up messy within 2hrs.

Cookie's first link made a huge difference for me...I am now a huge tight lining fan!

The right products made the difference for me. I have hooded eyes and tightlining and lining the waterline used to be impossible until I started doing two things:

1. Wipe the tightline/waterline area with a cotton bud first to remove any traces of eye cream, foundation, concealer, etc. Optional step but useful if you find your eyeliner smudges.

2. Use Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes or Giorgio Armani Silk Waterproof Eyeliner. To lock it on and for a dramatic look, I apply 2-3 layers, letting the eyeliner dry 30 seconds between coats.

For added protection, use a small pointed concealer brush or a cotton bud dipped lightly in setting powder or skin colored eyeshadow and buff into your lash line. This creates a barrier so your eyeliner can't smudge or run.

On the eyelid, to keep eyeliner from transferring onto your under eye area - use a black eyeshadow on top of the eyeliner after it has set. Then at the end, I dust a tiny amount of translucent powder on top of all my eye makeup to set. You can also use a setting spray such as Urban Decay (choose the one for your skin type).

I don't put anything on the pink part of the eyelid because my doc said not to but also the tears wash it away. I don't like using dark eyeliner there anyway because it makes your eyes look smaller. I use a light flesh toned pencil instead of white. White looks too obvious but the flesh tone gets rid of any redness. It still doesn't last though.

For eyeliner I first draw on with a pencil, then go over it with powder eyeshadow to set it. Then dot liquid liner in amongst the eyelashes so it looks like I have thicker lashes.

Tightlining with laura mercier tightliner. I am now using the Bleu Marine color. It has been truly transforming.

How are you liking LM Blue Marine? I was thinking of getting it. What brush are you using to apply it on?

I totally agree! Very Happy

I read on MUA review that blue make your eyes look more white/brighter and if you have blue eyes, it looks more intense.
